KOTA BHARU: Property developer Auei Teras Holdings Sdn Bhd plans to build a tourist town known as the International Ideopolis Longevity City (IILC) costing RM3 billion on a 104-hectare site here.
Its president and chief executive officer Rita Sarbani Ismail said the project would incorporate three components, namely education, entrepreneurship development and healthcare.
She said IILC would be developed in five phases over a period of 15 years at the cost of RM3 billion in collaboration with Shaanxi Yilan Enterprise Group of Xian, Shaanxi Province, China and Al-Hijrah Trust of Birmingham, the UK.
"When completed, IILC will have a 60-storey academic tower and four other high-rise buildings of between 15 and 20 storeys. The buildings will have modern facilities, apart from a mosque, a hotel and an office space," she said at a news conference here, today.
Rita Sarbani said in an effort to nurture entrepreneurship, IILC would provide 1,000 places for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, including in the field of education and health tourism.
"We are awaiting the Kelantan government's approval of the parcels of land for IILC and we expect the project will get off the ground in 2016," she said.
She said Auei Teras Holdings, Shaanxi Yilan Enterprise and Al-Hijrah Trust entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop IILC in Xian on Nov 1.
The MoU also entails the development of a language learning centre, Global Education Multivarsity and Language College in Xian that would offer a wide range of foreign language courses such as Mandarin, English, bahasa Melayu, Arabic, French and Japanese.
The centre could enroll 600 students and the first intake will start their courses in September next year, Rita Sarbani said.
