KOTA BHARU: The construction of the Kota Bharu - Kuala Krai Highway still continues despite the country's financial challenges in the interest of the people, said Deputy Works Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir.
He said there was no reason for the 73 km long, four-lane highway construction project to be cancelled as its implementation was going smoothly so far.
"All projects for the benefit of the people will be continued and there is no reason for us to stop, only the people must be patient with the current economic position," he told reporters after launching the Kelantan Bina Paint sales warehouse here today.
He said this when asked if work on the highway would be postponed due to the financial difficulties facing the country.
Thus far, 1B Package from Pasir Hor to Kadok involving a 10.5 kilometre route had been completed and opened to users from August last year while the 2A (Kadok-Ketereh) and 2B packages (Ketereh-Kok Lanas) were under construction.
The 1B, 2A and 2B packages were the first phase of the three phases for the highway project which is estimated to cost RM1.8 billion.
Meanwhile, Bina Integrated Industries Sdn Bhd's chief executive officer Rosli Adam said Kelantan Bina Paint was the fourth paint sale outlet after Alor Setar, Kedah; Kuantan, Pahang; and Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
He said Bina Paint was a bumiputera product that contained no content contradictory to shariah and was free of Porcine DNA contents.
