Almost all suspects remanded in gang rape are related, say Kelantan police

KOTA BHARU: The 13 suspects who were arrested for allegedly gang raping a 15-year-old school girl last Tuesday are related to each other including a father and his two sons from the same village in Ketereh.
State CID chief Asst Comm Lai Yong Heng said almost all suspects were related to each other.
"The suspects we have remanded all had blood ties with each other including a 38-year-old father and his two sons
"We are investigating the case carefully and will ensure all those will be brought to justice.
"However, the police official count on the number of suspects who allegedly committed the offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code may slightly be more than 10 people and not more than 15 as some of them had raped the minor three times. This was based on the statement by the girl's boyfriend who was forced to watch and kept count on the number of times the girl was raped," ACP Lai said when contacted on Thursday.
He also said that the father and his sons had been remanded for seven days. He also revealed that the 17-year-old girl who was remanded on Tuesday lodged a police report that she was also raped by the suspects in the May 20 incident.
In the 7.30 pm incident the victim from Kuala Krai went to Ketereh to pick-up the 17-year-old suspect with her male companion.
They were then brought to Kampung Hutan Pasir by the girl and her boyfriend. The victim was reported to have been raped by more then 30 men, who were believed to be high on drugs, until she fainted.
The girl who suffered bleeding in her private parts was sent to the Kuala Krai hospital for treatment.
