KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank Group’s is in its final phase in providing assistance to residents of Kampung Pasir Era who were affected by the floods in 2015. The Group’s contribution towards the community lent its helping hand in building an additional three new houses as well as repairing 29 more houses for the residents.
A simple ceremony was held on Thursday, 17 August 2017 to officially hand-over the keys, as well as present the newly-repaired house to the residents of Kampung Pasir Era. The three new houses comprise of two room units fitted with household furniture, while repairs to the other 29 houses included repairs for the roof, ceiling, kitchen and walls, among others. The total investment to the reconstruction, household furniture and rehabilitation of the homes was RM255,000.
Present at the ceremony to deliver the keys to the residents of the new homes and also to inspect the repair works was Syed Anuar Syed Ali, Head, Group Corporate Communications and Marketing, AmBank Group accompanied by the management and staff from AmBank Kelantan office.
Two years ago on 2 January 2015, Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman, AmBank Group visited the area and made a pledge and committed RM1 million to assist the residents affected in the area. On 16 June 2015, Tan Sri Azman presented keys to 17 new houses to residents who lost their homes and a further 27 homes were repaired due to the massive flood which hit the east coast of Malaysia. The investment amount of RM1 million towards the reconstruction and rehabilitation works in 2015, was jointly contributed by Tan Sri Azman Hashim and AmBank Group.
“Today’s ceremony marks another milestone for all of us, especially for us AmBankers, for being able to continue our CSR efforts to restore the living standards of the residents in Kampung Pasir Era,” said Syed Anuar Syed Ali.
“We are indeed grateful and pleased to be able to bring back the joy and smiles to these 32 families with the completion of the construction and repairs of the houses,” he added.
The reconstruction and rehabilitation of the homes in Kampung Pasir Era has now benefited a total of 76 families, taking into account the 44 families aided in 2015.
“Our community engagement initiatives remain part of our corporate DNA to reach out to all cross-sections of the underserved community, as we continue supporting and contributing towards various charities and welfare-driven causes in the country,” said Syed Anuar.
