IN CONJUNCTION with Visit Kedah and Kelantan Year 2016, Pos Malaysia Bhd will issue its “Tourist Destinations – Kedah & Kelantan” stamp series on July 27.
The stamp series will feature popular tourist spots in Kedah and Kelantan such as Langkawi, Muzium Padi, Menara Alor Setar, Lembah Bujang (Kedah) as well as Pantai Bisikan Bayu, Kampung Kraftangan and Muzium Kraf (Kelantan).
“In support of Tourism Malaysia’s 2016 travel campaign, Pos Malaysia would like to do its part by promoting tourism attractions unique to Kedah and Kelantan.
“Kedah, as we know, is famous for its padi fields and is often regarded as ‘the rice bowl of Malaysia’ while Kelantan on the other hand is famous for its laid-back lifestyle, tranquil countryside, rustic fishing villages and a wealth of cultural activities.
“I believe that both avid stamp collectors and beginners will find this issue interesting,” Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said.
The ‘Tourist Destinations – Kedah & Kelantan’ stamps series will be issued at Pos Malaysia headquarters Dayabumi Complex, KL.
Kedah’s se-tenant block of stamps will feature the images of Muzium Padi/Menara Alor Setar and Stone Boxes/Lembah Bujang, while the se-tenant stamps for Kelantan will feature Kampung Kraftangan and Muzium Kraf/Songket.
Each stamp will carry 80sen denomination and the se-tenant will be available for purchase at RM1.60 per pair.
Besides the se-tenant stamps, the Tourist Destinations stamp series will also feature miniature sheets with two stamps featuring Langkawi (Kedah) and Pantai Bisikan Bayu (Kelantan). Each piece of the miniature sheet will carry RM2 denomination each. The miniature sheet will be sold at RM4.25 per piece.
Other philatelic products such as first day covers (FDC), including a brochure, will be sold at 55sen each, while the folders will be sold at RM6.35 each. The complete Tourist Destinations set series will be available at RM51.10 each.
Concurrently, the cancellation mark will feature Kedah’s padi stalk and Kelantan’s top spinning as both elements are believed to be the best elements to represent the two states.
