KUALA NERUS: The Terengganu state government hoped the Federal Government agrees to proceed with the East Coast Expressway 3 (LPT3) from Gemuruh to Jertih, which is expected to cost RM1.4 billion.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the construction of the LPT3 was seen as a main prority at present given that the number of LPT2 commuters, including from Kelantan had increased.
"If the federal government agrees, the state government is prepared to borrow RM1.8 billion that is required from the LPT2 project cost (still under discussion) for the LPT3 project," he told reporters after the 1Malaysia haj programme handing over ceremony here today.
He said pending the approval of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the state government also claimed concession payment of 40 per cent from Plus Malaysia Berhad for toll collection at LPT2.
He said LPT2 could generate good economic spins-off not only to the state government but also for locals to trade at every rest and recreation stops along the stretch of LPT2 at present.
