Government allocates another RM101m for infrastructure repair in Kelantan

Kelantan Post-Flood Joint Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said RM36 million was given to Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) for repair of pipelines and RM19 million to local authorities for repair of ditches.
TANAH MERAH: The Federal Government has given another RM101 million to the Kelantan state government for repair of infrastructure damaged by floods.

Kelantan Post-Flood Joint Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said RM36 million was given to Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) for repair of pipelines and RM19 million to local authorities for repair of ditches.

“Another RM33 million was for repair of roads and RM13 million for repair of slopes,” he told reporters after handing over house keys to a flood victim in Kampung Sat here, today.

Commenting about the delay in the construction of permanent houses for flood victims, he said it was because some 1,311 victims did not own land.

“We are focusing on 513 victims who own land by building 333 houses of which 168 are by the federal government and 165 by the state government.

“For families who do not own land, South Kelantan Development Authority (KESEDAR) has prepared a layout plan in Chenulang, Kuala Krai to build 400 houses for them.”

Mustapa, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, said 117 flood victims are still living in transit homes in Gua Musang and Kuala Krai.

“Most victims moved in with relatives or live in transit homes built by the Kedah and Terengganu state governments and NGOs.”

Some 1,190 families had each received RM500 compassionate aid while another 17,000 families were being vetted by the National Security Council (MKN) for not having a fixed address and identification card number.
