KOTA BHARU: Pasir Mas MP Nik Abduh Nik Aziz (pic) has lambasted party members who invited DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang to speak at a ceramah here, adding that no one would have dared invite Lim if the party’s former spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat was still alive.
“Many have asked me this and I agree with them that if my father was alive today no one, would have dared invite Lim to Kota Bharu to speak at a ceramah because he has rejected God’s laws.
“In light of this latest development, I pray that all PAS leaders are steadfast in their support of hudud and continue with my late father’s quest for Hudud to be practised in the country and at the same time to be wary of the deceit and trickery that could ruin the party,” Nik Abduh said.
On Monday, Lim had said to a crowd in Kota Bharu that he was not anti-Islam but that he did not agree with hudud being implemented.
Lim went on to say that he had recently visited Middle East countries with several DAP leaders and found that countries like Jordan and Egypt did not practise hudud.
Lim, who is also Gelang Patah MP, added that he had been asked by thousands of Malaysian students there whether hudud was the main issue that was causing a rift in Pakatan Rakyat.
“I told them that hudud is not an issue and that DAP is not anti Islam. It is about fellow leaders within the Opposition pact who cannot keep their promises that they have made,” he added.
Among those present at the ceramah on Monday, held at Padang Perdana was PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and Kota Baru PAS commissioner Datuk Wan Rahim Wan Abdullah.
PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa who was scheduled to speak at the ceramah was not present.
