BENTONG: Traffic congestion here will be a thing of the past once the Bentong Bypass is completed.
During the launch of the road on Wednesday, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said it would offer travellers an alternate route, bypassing the town of Bentong on the way to Raub.
The 28km project is a part of the Central Spine Road (CSR) project linking Pahang and Kelantan, and it has received a RM528.25mil allocation from the Government.
It is expected to be completed in 2019.
Construction of the bypass' first phase started in November 2015 and is now 30% completed, Liow said.Bentong MP Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, who is also the Transport Minister, said the bypass will serve as a catalyst for Bentong's growth.
The CSR is a 350km project that is expected to cost around RM6.6bil, and 15% of its construction has been completed.
