BENTONG: Horrendous traffic crawls regularly experienced by commuters here are set to be a thing of the past once the Bentong Bypass is completed.
At an event here today, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the facility will serve as an alternative route for Klang Valley motorists travelling directly to Raub, Pahang.
The 28km package, part of the Central Spine Road project which connects Pahang to Kelantan, is estimated to cost RM528.25 million and is expected to be completed in 2019.
The 350km Central Spine Road project, from Bentong to Kota Bharu, is estimated to cost RM6.6 billion and is currently 15 per cent complete.
Bentong Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the bypass will be a catalyst for the development of Bentong once it is ready.
Construction of the bypass’ first phase started in Nov 2015 and it is currently 30 per cent completed.
