BODYBUILDER Syarul Azman Mike Mahen successfully defended his world title in Mongolia on Saturday.
The former Kuala Lumpur footballer flexed his muscles to retain his men's athletic physique up to 170cm gold medal at the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia.
Syarul was delighted to get things right in the biggest meet of the year.
"Everything came out very well in the end. The cold weather was my biggest challenge and I had to be mentally strong in competition," said he today.
"I have never competed in a meet held in a cold climate. In fact, the weather dropped to below zero degree Celcius earlier in pre-judging going into the final.
"Winning the world title for the second year in a row is a great achievement."
The win is a sweet double as the 44-year-old claimed his third Asian title in Seoul in August.
Earlier, Dr Malvern Abdullah bagged the silver medal in the men's 60kg category.
Malvern, a lecturer from Sarawak, is also the reigning Asian bodybuilding champion in his category.
