PETALING JAYA: Three other state capitals will introduce new stage bus services of their own after the rollout of myBAS services in Perlis and Seremban.
Kuala Terengganu is expected to come out with its version of the myBAS in October this year.
“We are in the midst of finalising the contract and vehicle operation cost. The contract is expected to be signed this month and the tentative launch date will be in October,” said a Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) spokesman.
A similar contract is expected to be signed in Kuching next month. Ipoh’s myBAS tender and evaluation process has been completed and the contract is expected to be signed later this year.
SPAD is planning to have myBAS buses run by local stage bus companies in the peninsula, as well as Kota Kinabalu and Kuching by 2020.
The Government is expected to spend about RM100mil on myBAS this year, RM500mil next year, RM800mil in 2017, RM1.3bil in 2018 and RM1.9bil in 2019. It is expected to cost RM2.7bil yearly from 2020.
